Stephen has been serving as a coach or administrator in Christian athletics for more than 25 years. His coaching career began at Williams Baptist University in 1993 where he served as an assistant basketball coach for 7 years and head soccer coach for 4 years. Stephen then transitioned to Northpoint Christian High School in 2000 where he served as head boys basketball coach for five years plus assistant principal/athletic director for the final three years. As Stephen’s family began to grow, the Lord moved him from full time education to the pharmaceutical industry. Stephen has been with Takeda Pharmaceuticals for 18 years and has served in various leadership roles for the last 16 years. Just a short time after leaving education, Stephen once again found himself coaching and serving in leadership roles through homeschool basketball in Tulsa. For the last 13 years, he has coached many boys and girls from the elementary ages through the varsity level while also having the privilege to coach his own children. The teams that Stephen has had the opportunity to lead have experienced many terrific successes throughout his years of coaching as well as most recently with the homeschool teams because of the efforts of many, skillful players. Here are some results from the last five years: four 30+ win seasons, multiple Gold/Silver Ball Championships, numerous district and regional homeschool championships, and has had 3 different teams ranked in the top 5 in the nation with one team rising to number one in the nation entering the national 2022 national tournament!

Stephen has been married to Lorie for 27 years. They have been blessed with five wonderful children: Sydney is a Senior at Oklahoma Baptist University majoring in nursing, Baylor is a Freshman at the University of Central Oklahoma where he is majoring in biomedical engineering before heading to dental school, Dawson is 15, London is 13, and Sawyer is 10. Their family has been heavily involved in the homeschool community for the last 14 years in the Tulsa, OK area.

Stephen’s vision is to lead a basketball program that creates an environment where the gospel of Christ is shared, character development is emphasized, and players are being taught to play the best basketball possible!
